Juliana Canedo is a Brazilian architect and urbanist, currently working as a postdoc researcher and lecturer at Habitat Unit, Chair for International Urbanism and Design of the Institute of Architecture of the Technische Universität Berlin, where she holds a fellowship from DFG as Temporary Principal Investigator of the research project entitled “Beyond the Shelter: understanding the limits and potentialities between emergency and endurance in Refugee Camps in Germany.”
She has a Master’s Degree and a Ph.D. in Urbanism from the Post Graduate Program in Urbanism of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), with one collaboration period at the Fakultät Architektur und Urbanistik of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar (Germany). She is a former assistant professor of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
Her research topics involve housing for vulnerable communities, insurgent practices and collaborative design, focusing on the critical debate of the role of city-building professionals.
